Alice Corrine
Schneider
Dec 25, 1926 — Aug 21, 2024
Columbia City
Alice Corinne Schneider , 97, of Tri-Lakes, died peacefully in the company of family at her home at 5:44 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1926, in Columbia City, Indiana, a daughter of the late Homer William Trout and Maude Evelyn (Vandersaul) Trout. Growing up in Columbia City, she completed West Ward School and attended Columbia City High School.
On February 3, 1945, she married Glenn Verlin Schneider in Texas while he was on leave from the military during WWII. In 1957, the couple made their home at Tri-Lakes, where they raised three children. Glenn died on June 2, 1993.
She was a full-time homemaker raising their children and she loved being at home. Over the years, she also cared for and adored several small dogs.
An avid cookbook collector, she enjoyed cooking holiday meals and hosting family gatherings. She delighted in shopping whenever possible. As her mobility became limited in her senior years, she liked to watch the birds, her favorite daytime soaps, and evening game shows; and she loved keeping up with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Sandra (Mark) Mavis and Michael (Regan) Schneider, both of Columbia City; daughter-in-law Lavonne Schneider of Roanoke; grandchildren, Deidre Wildman, Cara (Aaron) Campbell, Samantha (Scott) Mawhorter, Nicole (Travis) Minear, Joshua (Samantha) Schneider, and Mitchel Schneider; and great-grandchildren, Jordan (Ruby) Wildman, Elizabeth Wagner, Sawyer Minear, Mallorie Minear, Gracen Minear, Oliver Schneider, Wyatt Stilwell-Ware, and Piper Stilwell-Ware.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by a son, Verlin Schneider; great-grandchildren, Alexander Wagner, Marcus Minear, and Tessa Minear; and her sisters, Lois Engle and Evelyn Johnson.
The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Monday (August 26) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City. Burial is at the Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials in Alice's honor are to Stillwater Hospice of Fort Wayne or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
