Obituary

Alyce Louise Hackworth, 84, of South Whitley, died at 11:52 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City, where she was admitted on Thursday.

Born February 21, 1937, in Whitley County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Dwight O. and Dorothy L. (Owen) Goff. Growing up in South Whitley, she graduated from South Whitley High School in 1955.

In August 1962, she married Ellis B. Hackworth. They made their home in South Whitley. Ellis died on May 27, 1993.

In addition to being a homemaker raising four children, she worked for United Technologies in North Manchester for 25 years.

She was a 35-year member of the Eastern Star, belonged to the VFW 5582, Columbia City and Amvets 2919, South Whitley, and attended Collamer Church of God.

A loyal Whitko Wildcats fan, she regularly attended the home games of both the boys' and girls'.

Surviving are her children Clifton (Amy) Hackworth of Albion, Dorothy (James) Mullins, and Roni (Ruben) Rodriguez, both of Pierceton; grandchildren Cody Lee (Autumn) Mullins, Paul Thomas Warner, Pamela Sue Warner, Steven Jay (Desaray) Warner, Savanah Nicole Lynn Hackworth, Allen Michael Hackworth, William Ellis Hackworth, Shonda Reashell Hackworth, and Lori Kathleen Hackworth; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Carl Goff of New Haven and a sister Gayle (Bill) Hull of South Whitley.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a son Michael Hackworth; brother Joe Goff; sisters, Donna Rose and Joyce Loe and a grandson Christopher Mullins.

The funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial is at the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
