Obituary

Barbara Lou Craig , 93, of Wabash, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Parkview Wabash Hospital.

Born on October 20, 1931, in Beach Grove, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. and Gladys (Steffey) Radtke.  Growing up in Indianapolis, she attended St. Paul Lutheran School.

On December 28, 1948, she married Raymond "Ed" Craig.  They made their first home in Indianapolis, then in 1955 they moved to Columbia City.  In 1959, they moved to a farm in Columbia Twp.  Raymond died on August 1, 1994.  Barbara has lived at a care facility in Wabash for the past six years.

For over 30 years, Barbara worked as a dental assistant at the Hile and Parnell Dental Office in Columbia City.  She then worked for LS Ayres, Pizza Hut, and Paige's Crossing.

Throughout the 1990s, she spent her winter months in Avon Park, Florida.  She enjoyed the beach and at home, doing ceramic crafts.  She liked to grow flowers and became skilled at making macramé potted plant holders.  Remembered for her spirited driving, she was always first to pull away from the stoplight, and she was rarely passed.

Surviving are her children, Steven Michael Craig (June Keiser) of Tri-Lakes, Charles R. (Georgia) Craig of Fort Wayne, Theresa (John) Baer of Urbana, and Sean (Toni) Craig of Warsaw; ten grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.

The funeral service is at 12 noon on Thursday (May 29th) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  Burial is at the Nolt Cemetery.  Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Barbara's honor are to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
