Bonnie Jean Depew, 82, of Columbia City, died peacefully surrounded by family at 8:46 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at her home.

Born on March 25, 1942 in Whitley County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Eugene J. and Lois (Nolt) Lamle.  Her formative years were spent in Churubusco, and she graduated from Churubusco High School in 1960.

On June 27, 1964, she was united in marriage to Keith Duane Depew.  They made their home on a farm in the Churubusco area, and more recently moved to Columbia City. Keith died July 12, 2022.

Bonnie worked for Allen County Welfare as a data entry clerk until retirement.

She used to enjoy square dancing with Keith and liked playing cards with friends.

Surviving is her son, Kevin of Columbia City; sister, Debra S. (Ronald) Baughman; and brothers, Dennis (Karen) Lamle and Michael (Robyn) Lamle.

The funeral service is 7 p.m. Monday April 8, 2024 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is from 3 p.m. (or after the solar eclipse) until the service at the funeral home.

Memorials in Bonnie's honor are to Soarin' Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center.
