Obituary

Bonnie L. Ross, 91, formerly of rural South Whitley, died peacefully at 8:20 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester where she had been a resident for the past seven years.

Born November 11, 1930, in Collamer, Whitley County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Jessie (Reed) Warner.  She completed elementary school at Sidney and attended Sidney High School.

On August 21, 1948, she married Donald Robert Ross.  They made their home on a farm near Sidney.  Donald died on March 7, 1997.

She was a full-time homemaker raising the couple's four children and assisting on the farm.  In 1997, she went to work for Timbercrest Senior Living in the laundry department for five years.

When her grandchildren came along, they became her focus as she cared for and help raise them.  Throughout her life she enjoyed raising flowers.  Taking leisurely drives through the countryside helped her to relax with the destination often being shopping.  She liked to travel with her husband as they explored the western states and sometimes Florida.

Surviving are her children, Gwyna Ross of North Manchester; Martha (Wes) Stouder of Warsaw, and Kathy (Dennis) Rhoades of South Whitley. six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren four step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rosie Hossler of Fort Wayne and Sue (Lionel) Ussery of Swayzee.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Ross; brothers, Jim and Ben Warner and a sister, June Arnold.

The funeral service is 12 noon Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.  The burial is at the Spring Creek Cemetery near Sidney.  Visitation is 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials in Bonnie's honor are to the Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton.
