Carl Linn Goff, 83, of New Haven formerly of South Whitley died peacefully in the company of family at 1:04 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at his home.

Born on Independence Day, July 4, 1940 in Kosciusko County, Indiana, he was a son of the late Dwight and Dorothy (Owen) Goff. Growing up in South Whitley, he attended South Whitley High School.

On July 29, 1959, he entered the U.S. Marine Corp.  Becoming a mortarman, he served until January 9, 1962, when he received an honorable discharge.

Returning to the area, he married Sandra K. Carver.  They made their home in South Whitley, raising two children.  The two divorced.  Sandra died on July 18, 2017.  On December 28, 1988, he married Judith K. Nolt, making their home in New Haven.  Judith died on July 18, 2019.

Carl began his work career with Whitley Manufacturing in South Whitley.  In 1983, he went to work for Dana Weatherhead/CF Goma where he was a machine operator retiring in 2003 after 20 years of service.

In his retirement, he enjoyed tinkering with and restoring old International Tractors. He also collected coins over the years and, more recently, became a fan of old Western movies. With his outgoing personality, he liked practical jokes and making others laugh. He was a regular at the Lakeside Café in Fort Wayne for over twenty years where he was well-known to the staff and patrons.

Surviving are his children, Anita (Charles) Bender of Columbia City and Jerry A. Goff of New Haven; a sister, Gayle A. (Bill) Hull of South Whitley, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Goff; sisters, Joyce Loe, Donna Rose, and Alyce Hackworth; a granddaughter, Brandi Bender; and great-grandsons, Nicholas Adkins, Peyton Bender, and Justice Bender Wheaton.

The funeral service is 11a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel South Whitley.  Burial is at the South Whitley Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
