Obituary

Carol Ann (Hall) Gillum , 83, of rural Churubusco, lost her battle with leukemia on July 25, 2025.  Wife to Ronny, mother to Sherri, grandma to Jake, sister to Bob.

She was born on March 12, 1942, in Allen County, Indiana.  She graduated from Huntertown High School in 1960.

Carol married Ronny Ray Gillum on February 11, 1961. The new couple made their first home in Charleston, SC.  After Ronny's discharge from the U.S. Navy, they returned to the Churubusco area.  Carol and Ronny spent 54 adventurous years together before his death in 2015.

She retired from Dana Corporation in 2003 after 35 years.

Carol enjoyed gardening, flowers, and feeding the wild birds.  She also enjoyed spending time with her sweet girlfriends, as well as many years at the Columbia City YMCA.  She attended the Sugar Grove Church.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Sherri Crawford of Roanoke, and a brother, Robert (Karen) Lahr of Churubusco.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronny Gillum, a grandson, Jacob Ray Crawford, a brother, Leon Hall, as well as her parents, Lester and Helen Lahr, and Floyd Hall.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday (August 6th) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  Visitation is from 2 p.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Carol's honor are to the Sugar Grove Church of God.
