Carol A. Patterson, 83, formerly of Columbia City, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at her home.

Born on April 17, 1941 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Helen (Corbin) Sievers.  Growing up in Columbia City, she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1959.

On December 20, 1959 she was united in marriage to Fred G. Snyder.  Fred died on December 21, 1976.  On May 24, 1985, Carol married Gene M. Patterson.

Carol worked for many years for Sprint (United Telephone Company) in Columbia City and in Warsaw, Indiana where she and Gene lived.

In 1999, she and Gene retired and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, and in 2016 they moved to Galloway, Ohio.

Surviving is her loving husband, Gene; a son, Duane (Cindy) Snyder of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Diane (Steve) Taylor of Walkerton, IN; grandchildren, Seth Taylor, Kristin (Zachary) Mason, Nicholas Snyder, Jacob Snyder and great grandchildren, Hallie and Reece Mason; step children,  Aleta (Bill) Koch, Melinda (Dave) Field, Valerie Yagel and Teresa Wehr; step grandchildren and great grandchildren, Zachary Koch, Jessica (Jordan) Knieper, Jason Field, Brittany Yagel, Jacob Yagel, Kelcey Wehr, and Austin (Audrey) Wehr; great grandchildren, Raelynn Wehr, Dawson Avery, Collin Avery, Colson Avery, Jonah Morgan, Parker Koch, Gunnar and Rowan Banks, Ryleigh Jo Lefever and Vienna Wehr; and several nieces and nephews.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, Don Sievers.

The funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday, December 9th at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  The burial is at Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
