Carol Jean Williams , 87, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at her home.

Born on June 5, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Bert S. and Eugenia E. (Woods) Hawk. Growing up in the Fort Wayne area, she completed her schooling at Central High School, Fort Wayne.

On October 2, 1953, she married James M. Williams. They made their home in Arcola, later moving to rural Columbia City. James died in January of 1993. For the past several years, Carol has resided in Columbia City.

In addition to being a full-time homemaker and raising two children, Carol worked for Essex/United Technologies in Columbia City in the manufacturing department. She retired in 1996 with 27 years of service.

Surviving are her children, Annette Willson and David M. Williams both of Columbia City; grandchildren, Heath (Kristy) Willson; Chad (Amber) Willson, David Willams II and Montana Williams; great-grandchildren, Sydney (Andrew) Gordon, Josef Willson, Haley Willson, Allyson Willson, Cassidy Willson and Vicent Plain; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Sharon Bordner of Fort Wayne.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Hawk, Jr., and a son-in-law, Bruce Willson.

Carol's wishes were to have no services. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
