Cathy Ann Nestel, 70, of South Whitley, passed away at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Born July 21, 1955 in Columbia City, Indiana, a daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Hyndman) Grant. She was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle, Paul and Waneta Snepp.  She attended North Miami Elementary School and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1973.

On August 2, 1980 she married Bradley L. Nestel, and even though divorced, they have remained good friends.

Cathy first worked at Essex and then retired from 80/20 in 2024.

She enjoyed watching her grandchildren (and spoiling them) and going out for breakfast.

Surviving are her daughters, Nicole (Brock Waterson) Nestel and Chloe L. (Nicholas) Francis; grandchildren, Caden N. Waterson, Mason A. Waterson, Addison N. Waterson and Lorelei A. Francis all of South Whitley; brother, Timothy J. (Cindy) Grant of South Whitley; family included, Kandy Crawford, Kris Snepp and Trisha Benzing; half siblings, Joni (Scott) Hulderson of Shepherdville, KY, Julie (Kirk) Hartwell of Wentz, GA; David (Jodi) Grant of Denver, IN and Jeff (Molly) Grant of Peru, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the parents who raised her, and Kandy Crawford.

The memorial service will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel South Whitley.
