Obituary

Darold Lee Cart, 60, of rural Pierceton, died at 12:06 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Parkview Randallia, Fort Wayne. He had been battling cancer.

He was born March 21, 1961, in Goshen, Indiana, a son of Stanley Lee and Julia K. (Galloway) Cart. He grew up in Etna-Troy Twp., Whitley County, and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1979.

Shortly after graduating, he went to work for Dalton Foundry, Warsaw, until he was medically unable.

An accomplished mechanic, he enjoyed working on cars and rebuilding engines. Not only could he work on cars, he liked to draw them in his sketchbook and build scale models. Using his mechanical skills, he built furniture and other woodcrafts. In hunting season, he liked to deer hunt.

With an outgoing personality, he was comfortable around people and was a regular member of the West Etna Community Church.

Surviving are his mother, Julia Cart; a brother, Timothy Cart of Peoria, IL; and a brother-in-law William Wallen of South Whitley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Cart, and sister Lorraina Wallen.

The funeral service is 3 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the Salem Cemetery, Wilmot. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to final expenses c/o Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
