Deborah Sue "Debbie" Nordby, age 72, of Arizona City, Arizona was born on November 2, 1952, and died on July 29, 2025, following a short illness.  Debbie, daughter of Bill Junior and Barbara (Kistler) Kessie was raised in South Whitley, Indiana with her siblings, Beth (David) Metzger, North Manchester, IN; Jill (Tim) Hartman, Everett, Washington; and Tom (Pam) Kessie of Columbia City, IN.

Debbie graduated from South Whitley High School in 1971.  She earned her associate degree in Radiology Technology from Indiana University-South Bend and worked at both Elkhart General and Logansport Memorial Hospital.

After moving to Casa Grande, Arizona in 2004, Debbie met and married Richard Nordby on September 11, 2007.  Together, they enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends, and being with their dog, Chewy.  Debbie collected cookbooks and made amazing pies, cakes and cheesecakes.  She enjoyed crafting and loved decorating for holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas.  She was also an avid reader and loved puzzles.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Nordby of Arizona City, AZ; son John Michel (Jonna) of Huntington, IN; daughter Julie (Jason) Trabert of Columbia City, IN;  Stepsons Scott Nordby of Lake Stevens, WA and Randy Nordby of Casa Grande, Arizona;  Stepdaughter Pati (Scott) Way of Dayton, OH;  grandchildren (Colton Reffitt, Mahayllie Reffitt, Mackinzie Michel, Tristin Michel, Clara Trabert, and Warner Trabert);  step grandchildren (Nick Nordby, Shawn Nordby, Amanda Nordby, Anton Way, and Aria Kiever).  She is also survived by 4 great step grandchildren.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Homer and Beulah Kistler and William and Wilda Kessie, and a stepdaughter Tammy Couch.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund.  A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2025, from 1-3 p.m. at Smith & Sons Coach Room, 205 North Main Street, Columbia City, IN.
