Donna Dee Thomson, 91, of South Whitley, died peacefully at 7:47 p.m. Friday, October 15 2021, at Peabody Retirement Community, where she had been a resident since August 2018.

Born in Pierceton, Indiana on June 14, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Gladys (Bentz) Wendel. She graduated from South Whitley High School in 1947 and continued her education at Manchester College where she earned an associate's degree.

On September 12, 1953 she married Jack B. Thomson. They always lived in South Whitley. Jack died on July 22, 2020.

A full-time homemaker raising the couple's three children, she had also worked for Gates & Gates, Columbia City and a seasonal employee for Stumps/Shindigz, South Whitley.

For over ten years she served on the South Whitley Library Board.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, and would spend the winter months with relatives in Arizona. The couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.

Surviving are two sons, Bradley Thomson of South Whitley, David D. (Sheri) Thomson of Fremont, Indiana; a daughter, Linda Sue Tincher of Columbia City; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her 100-year-old sister, Julia Brock of North Manchester.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by sisters, Arema McGlennen, Caroline Augustine, and Rosie Krider; and a brother, Gene Wendal.

A graveside service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the South Whitley Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
