Frances Chiquita "Skeeter" Aldredge, 102, formerly of Columbia City and Huntington, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020, at North Woods Village at Inverness Lake, Fort Wayne.

She was born January 13, 1918, in Blytheville, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Frank Colin and Lois (Lucado) Douglas. Growing up in Blytheville, she graduated from Blytheville High School in 1935.

On September 1, 1940, she married James Paul Aldredge. First locating in Huntington, WV, the couple moved throughout the eastern United States, with her husband's company assignments including Bridgeton, NJ, Toledo, OH, New Orleans, LA, Charlotte, MI. Then Great Britain and Scotland. After returning in 1980, they located in Huntington, WV, then Toledo, OH, and back to Huntington, WV in 1986 until 1995 when she moved to Columbia City to live with her son. James died on May 24, 1988.

Skeeter was a full-time homemaker raising the couple's four children. An avid reader throughout her life, her favorite books were about Christianity. One of her significant accomplishments was translating the Bible's New Testament into brail for the visually impaired.

She is survived by two children, Patricia Ann (Richard "Butch") Diemer of Parker, CO, and Thomas (Patricia) Aldredge of Columbia City; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by two children, David Aldredge and James Todd Aldredge; two brothers, Colin Douglas, Jr. and Robert Gene Douglas; and a sister, Dorris Wright.

A private burial beside her husband is at Woodmere Memorial Park Cemetery, Huntington, WV.
