Frank A. Kimmell, 89, of Columbia City, died at 12:41 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Parkview Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Born on October 26, 1934, in Rome City, Indiana, he was a son of the late Paul and Veda Pauline (Grunden) Kimmell. Frank graduated from Rome City High School, and continued his education at Purdue University.

On December 14, 1954 he entered the U.S. Army, he became a paratrooper and was promoted to sergeant.  Frank was honorably discharged December 13, 1957.

On December 5, 1959 he was united in marriage to Joanne F. Tucker.  They made their home in the Columbia City area.  Joanne died March 7, 1999.

Frank started his work career at Essex Wire and then Hipskind Asphalt, he completed his career as a Demolition Sector Manager at Martin Enterprise.

Frank enjoyed fishing, traveling and most importantly spending time with his family.

Surviving is his daughter, Tamela S. (Robin Hammond)) Kimmell-Hammond of Oviedo, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; a daughter, Theresa Pauline Kimmell; and a son, Eddie A. Kimmell.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 9th at Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 8th at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Frank's honor are to Riley Children's Hospital or the Mayo Clinic.
