Gail Denise Helmer, 68, died at Parkview Regional Medical Center at 4:54 am on September 4, 2023.  She had been at The Waters in Columbia City since November of 2022.

Born on December 1, 1954 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Dietrich) Van Sickle.

She spent her formative years in the Detroit area.  She had lived in Columbia City and South Whitley for several years.

Gail was a full-time homemaker.  She had also worked for Pizza King as a driver.

She loved her animals and really enjoyed getting together and chatting with her friends.

Surviving is a daughter, Rachael Helmer of Mishawaka; and sisters, Linda Kalash of Grosse Isle, MI, Janet Armstrong and Carol Senkbeil.

As per Gail's wishes, there will be no local services. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Michigan.
