Gene Andrew Chaney, 66, of Warsaw, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, at his home in Warsaw.

Born on February 3, 1960, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was a son of the late Wendell W. Chaney, Sr. and Majorie Jane (LeRoy) Chaney. Growing up in the Arcola Area, he completed his formal education at Carroll High School.

Entering the trades, working as a roofer, then in lawn care services. More recently, he worked as a cook in the restaurant business.

In his off time, he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his beloved and faithful dog, Coco.

Surviving are his daughter, Crystal Chaney; a sister, Jane Chaney of Columbia City; brothers, Wendall (Denise) Chaney, Jr., and Michael (Phaedra) Chaney, both of Columbia City; and a half-sister, Jan Chaney of Fort Wayne.

He was also preceded in death by brother, Robert Chaney.

Gene desired to have no services. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
