Georgia L. Sheets, 82, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:37 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Columbia City.

Born on July 13, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, she was a child of the late Reino J. and Dorothy M. (Adams) Panula. Growing up in in a military family, Georgia lived in various places across the United States and in Japan. In 1957, her family moved to Columbia City, then to Fort Wayne, Churubusco, Kokomo, Amboy, Indianapolis, and back to Columbia City in 1996. She graduated from CCJHS in 1961.

In addition to raising her children, Georgia worked for Lincoln Life in Fort Wayne, GTE, Texscan in Indianapolis, Hetco, Martz Catering, and Arrow Oil Company, which merged into Jackson Oil Company and Solvents in Fort Wayne, as an Office Manager.

Georgia is survived by her children, Amy (Thomas) Yaryan of Bargersville, James LeFever of Columbia City, and Stephanie (Alvin) Wilson of Larwill; grandchildren, Cory (Amanda) Yaryan, Jennifer (Dylan) Neitz, James Verkamp, Robert (Jessica) Yaryan, Heather LeFever, Hunter LeFever, Madalyn LeFever, Kailee (Al) Bailey, and Brody (Shelby) Wilson; and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Reino A. Panula, and one great grandchild.

As per her wishes, there will be a private ceremony, and she will be laid to rest with her parents and brother in Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home of Columbia City.
