Glenn LeRoy DePoy , 99, of Columbia City, passed away at 1 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at The Waters of Huntington.

Born on September 14, 1924, in Whitley County, he was the son of the late Frank "Ted" and Lucinda (Sisson) DePoy. Growing up near Coesse, he graduated from Coesse High School in 1942.

He became a farmer, owning and operating a small farm on the ground where the First Church of God and Deer Chase housing subdivision is now located. He raised dairy cattle, hogs, and chickens, always treating them with kindness and care.

On October 29, 1977, he married Edna Mae Walker at the Washington Twp. United Methodist Church. They made their home on the farm until 1984, when they sold the ground and moved to west Lincolnway, Columbia City. Edna died on January 17, 2014.

After retiring from farming, Glenn continued to stay busy with delivery jobs that found him. He was proud of the fact that he never applied for a job, the job always found him. He served as a courier for Star Financial, making deliveries between locations. Then Frank's Greenhouse, TNT Floral deliveries, and Snyder Vending Service out of Fort Wayne. Always pleasant and cordial, he was well-liked by those he met on his delivery routes.

In his early adulthood, he enjoyed playing baseball and softball and was a respected pitcher in the area leagues. Following sports throughout his life, he held season tickets to the former Zollner Pistons, Fort Wayne, was an IU Basketball fan, and followed the Indianapolis Colts.

Surviving are his step-daughters, Sarah E. (Kim) Rider of Columbia City; grandchildren, Travis (Belinda)  Rider, Tristan Rider, and Trey Rider; great-grandchildren, Alexys Rider, Andreu Rider, Tanner Rider, and Jack Rider; a cousin Cindy Mettler of Columbia City; and friend and caretaker, Sally Snodgrass of Columbia City.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

The funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is beside his wife at the South Park Annex Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Glenn's honor are to the Washington Center Methodist Church.
