Gloria D. Moore, 77, formerly of Columbia City, died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where she had been a resident for the past two years.

On October 11, 1943, she was born in Marion, Kentucky, the only child of the late John A. and Mary (Traylor) Cox. Growing up in Crittenton County, Kentucky, she completed her GED.

She moved to New Carlisle, Indiana, in 1961 and on to Warsaw in 1969. In the early 1980s, she moved to Columbia City.

She worked the majority of her work career at long-term healthcare facilities beginning with Hubbard United Memorial Home, then Alfran Nursing Home, Warsaw, and Miller's Merry Manor. She also worked a few years at Magnavox and Raytheon in Fort Wayne.

An Elvis fan, she enjoying singing along or singing unaccompanied. She liked to watch the birds and had a special place in her heart for her cat Doby. She was a former member of the Eagles Club, Columbia City.

Surviving are her two children, Anita (Daniel) Bucher of South Whitley and Timothy (Karen) Moore of Columbia City, two grandchildren Kaitlin Moore and Tanner Moore.

The funeral service is at 12 noon Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the Eberhard Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Gloria's honor are to the Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
