Gregory Dale
Soultz
Dec 28, 1957 — Oct 15, 2026
Gregory Dale Soultz, 68, of rural South Whitley, passed away at 2:28 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born on December 28, 1957, in Grant County, Indiana, he was a son of the late Dale R. and Patricia (Wolverton) Soultz. Growing up in Wabash, he graduated from Southwood High School in 1975.
On October 1, 1975, he entered the United States Marine Corps, becoming a meteorologist for the artillery. He served a year in Japan and was honorably discharged from active duty on September 13, 1979.
Returning to the Marion area, he became a journeyman ironworker. On April 10, 1991, he married Victoria Bailey. They made their home in Mays Landing, NJ. Greg managed resort parks and, in his spare time, caught minnows and supplied fish bait to area retailers. More recently, he drove dump trucks for various sand and gravel haulers. Victoria died on July 3, 2017. The following year, Greg moved to South Whitley to be closer to family.
With his metalworking skills, he loved to fabricate tools and jigs for the job at hand. He liked spending time in the shop welding and repairing whatever was needed. More recently, he liked to relax watching a good western about a simpler time in our history.
Surviving are his children, Joshua (Stacey) Soultz of South Whitley, Brandi (Matthew Losure) Soultz of Marion, and Kristofer Soultz of Marion; grandchildren, Adail Jonathon Soultz, Richard (Marylee) Soultz, Maxamillion Marcellino, Athena Marcellino, Lilli Williams, Faye Soultz, and Zelda Losure; great-grandchildren, Dante Soultz, Reyna Soultz, and Ranni Soultz.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Randall Soultz.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (Oct 22nd) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City, with a funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. The burial will be on Friday (Oct 23rd) at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, with a committal service and military honors beginning at 1 p.m.
