Hargis Winston Rowe, 57, of North Manchester, died peacefully in the company of family at his home at 1:32 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on January 4, 1965, in Wabash, Indiana, he was a son of the late Dudley Sr. and Helen (Marshall) Rowe. Growing up in the South Whitley area, he attended South Whitley Elementary and Whitko High School.

On February 3, 1984, he entered the U.S. Army. Serving at Fort Stewart, CA, he became a Bradley Fighting Vehicle mechanic. He was discharged on August 6, 1986.

Returning to the area, he lived in LaGrange. Moving to Louisiana for work, he lived there for about ten years, then moved to North Manchester. He worked as a general contractor, then worked eight years for Reelcraft, Columbia City, and completed his work career with Nova, North Manchester.

On February 29, 2012, he married Pamela R. Sands. They made their home in North Manchester.

He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson riding wherever the bike took him. He fought until the very end and showed his family what a true warrior he was. He loved his family, who will always love him and carry him in their hearts. He will be greatly missed by so many.

Surviving is his loving wife, Pamela; children, Zachary W. (Rebecca Sue) Rowe of Upland, Joyce E. (Moe) Lusch-Mohammad of Memphis, TN, and Tanner Harris of Columbia City; grandchildren, Nicodemus C. Rowe of Upland, Azodi H. Mohammad of Memphis, TN, Aalyiah Haywood of Tupelo, MS; sisters, Margo Abbott of Fort Wayne, Darlinda Robb of Avilla, and Lori Cameron; brother, Dudley Rowe Jr., of Big Lake; and his beloved cats, Ava and Roxy.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Brinda Fay Rowe, and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the South Whitley Cemetery.

Memorials in Hargis' honor are to the final expenses in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Homes.
