Obituary

Helen L. Treece, 88, of Columbia City, died at Parkview Whitley Hospital at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022.

Born July 9, 1933, in Elkhart County, Noble Township, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Auldo Dwight and Mary Cora (Smith) Creviston.  She attended Elwood High School.

She was married to Lloyd Mauk who died in 1972. She then married Anthony Treece who died in 2012.

From 1960 to 1968 she worked at Blue Bell clothing factory in Columbia City.

Helen had a caring heart and helped her family and friends in any way possible. Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting.  She loved God and read the bible every day.  She would paint her nails every day.

Surviving is her son, Lewis Mauk of Columbia City, stepchildren, Kathy Heinfeld, Gregory Treece, Teresa McCoy, Evette Mosquera, and Alex Treece; grandchildren, Amy Treece, Samantha Kneller, Mickila Heinfeld, Amber Heinfeld, Todd Steigerwald, Jessica Pletcher, Steven Kneller, Corey Wilcox and Heather Jones; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, June Smith of Goshen and Ruth Grim of Rochester.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a son Lawrence Mauk; sisters, Donna, Mary, and Barb Creviston; grandsons, Brandon Treece and Gregory Wayne Treece Jr.; and brother-in-law Charles Treece.

There will be no services.  Helen will be interred beside her first husband Lloyd Mauk at the Thorn Cemetery.
