Jack Albert Linsmeyer , 94, of Fort Wayne, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 10, 2023 in Windemere, Florida.

Born on December 8, 1928, in Elwood, Indiana, he was a son of the late Louis Henry Linsmeyer and Ethel V. (Dellinger) Linsmeyer.  He grew up in the Elwood area.

On January 1, 1949, he married Thelma R. Tharp.  They made their first home in Eaton then Huntington for ten years.  In 1969, the family moved to Columbia City.  Thelma died on September 19, 2010.  Jack later moved to Fort Wayne.

In 1958, Jack became the President and Manager of Huntington Ready Mix, Inc.  In 1969, he became Co-Owner of the S&L Truckstop in Columbia City.  He retired from the business in 2001.

A life-long race car fan, he owned a USAC Sprint Car and a champion dirt car from 1974 through 1981.  When not racing, he liked to fish and play golf.

Surviving are two sons, Roger K. (Minda) Linsmeyer of Fort Wayne and Steven B. (Rhonda) Linsmeyer of Windermere, FL; grandchildren, David Linsmeyer, Sam Linsmeyer, April Linsmeyer, Amy Sheridan, and Abbey Allen; and five great-grandchildren.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gina McClatchey; grandsons, Zach, and Ben Allen; a brother, Louis Linsmeyer and sisters, Rosemary Pugh, and Carolyn Bell.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  A private interment will be held at a later date at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
