Obituary

Jack Allen Macy , 78, of South Whitley, passed away at 7:22 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Born on September 8, 1947, in Noblesville, Indiana, he was the son of the late Wayne and Marieta (Foster) Macy. Growing up in the Indianapolis area, the family moved to Columbia City, where Jack graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1965.

On July 22, 1967, he married Marleta Waundean "Marty" Blanchard.  They made their home in South Whitley, raising three children.

For over 25 years, Jack worked for Dana/Weatherhead in Columbia City, where he became a regional manager.  In his retirement, he assisted his sons with their business, Perfection Metal Roofing, Inc.

Well known in the area, he was a member of the Cornerstone Grace Church, South Whitley; AmVets Post 2919, South Whitley; American Legion Post 98, Columbia City; the South Whitley Lions Club; and the Masonic Lodge.  Through the years, he served as a Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America, Troop 3085, the South Whitley Little League Program, and assisted with the annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Christmas program.

An avid fisherman, he participated in professional walleye tournaments.  His fishing prowess earned him a feature spot on the ESPN television network.  He enjoyed his grandkids and attended their extracurricular activities and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marty; children, Todd Macy of Angola, Jami (Mitchell) Platt of South Whitley, and Jon (Taylor) Macy of South Whitley; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Ruth) Macy of Good Hope, GA, and John (Marsha) Macy of Elbert, CO and a sister, Jean (Jeff) Christian of Findley, OH.

He was proceeded in death by a grandson, Tanner Macy and a great-grandson, Greyson Macy.

The funeral service is 10 a.m. on Saturday (Mar 21st) at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel South Whitley.  Burial is at the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Jack's honor are to the Sons of Amvets 2919.
