James W. "Joe" DeLorimiere, 95, of South Whitley, passed away at 4:44 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026, at Miller's at Oak Points, Columbia City.

Born on October 27, 1930, in Cohoes, New York, he was a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Peliter) DeLorimiere.  Growing up in Cohoes, he attended Cohoes High School.  He then joined the U.S. Army.

After his military service, he became a traveling salesman.  On his journeys, he met Jeanette Delores Holler in South Whitley.  The two were wed on December 6, 1954, making South Whitley their home, raising a daughter.

Joe became a linotype operator for the South Whitley Tribune.  He later continued his trade at Stumps Printing, South Whitley.  He completed his work career at Our Sunday Visitor in Huntington, retiring with over 35 years of service.

Joe enjoyed camping with his family throughout the area.  After his retirement, he became more involved with flea markets, maintaining a booth at the old Sidney School House.  He regularly attended garage sales and auctions, always on the hunt for hidden treasures he could resell.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jeanette; a daughter, Georgette (Billy) Linn of Claypool; grandchildren, Christa (John) Wiese and James (Amber) Linn, both of Fort Wayne; great-granddaughters, Catherine and Allison Weise; a brother, Roland (Barbara) DeLorimiere of Lubbock, TX; and a sister, Mary Ann Joslin of Cohoes, NY.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Calvin DeLorimiere, and his sisters, Margarette Bonesteel and Agatha Cummings.

A burial at the South Whitley Cemetery with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
