Obituary

James Robert Stresemann , 76, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Born on June 14, 1948, in Huntington, Indiana, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Rosie (Brown) Stresemann. Growing up in Columbia City, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1967.

Joining the U.S. Army in 1968, he became a Military Police Officer.  He served in Korea and was last stationed at Seattle, Washington, where he was issued an honorable discharge in 1976.

Returning to the area, he went to work as a used car salesman.  Known for his honesty, he strived to get his customers in a reliable vehicle they could afford.  After 25 years, he retired from car sales and became a security guard for Securitas in Fort Wayne, last working at the Johnson Controls factory in Fort Wayne.

He attended First Assembly Church in Fort Wayne.  Enjoying the company of his friend, they often met at the local Denny's.  He kept in touch with his Army buddies through the internet.  A connoisseur of rock music, he liked to listen to it – the louder, the better.  Through the years, he grew vegetables and hot peppers in his garden, which he used in his cooking.

Surviving are his siblings, Cathy Brown and Nancy Stresemann, both of Columbia City, William Stresemann of Fort Wayne, Richard (Mariann) Stresemann of Churubusco, and Vickie (Harvey) Fry of Columbia City; and many nieces and nephews.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Born.

The funeral service is at 2 p.m. on Sunday (April 6th) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  Burial is at the Greenhill Cemetery with military honors presented by the Korean War Honor Guard.  Visitation is from noon until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials in James's honor are to First Assembly Church of Fort Wayne.
