Janet Marie Neely , 78, of rural South Whitley, died peacefully in the company of her son at 2:41 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at her home.

She was born on April 15, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of the late Frank B. and Josephine B. (Hein) Hause. Growing up in Fort Wayne, she completed Catholic elementary school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964.

On March 1, 1965, she married Johnny M. Neely.  They made their first home in Fort Wayne.  In 2001, the couple moved to rural South Whitley.  Johnny died on April 9, 2022.

Janet was a full-time homemaker raising the couple's three children. Over the years, she enjoyed gardening, growing flowers around her home, and painting ceramics. Her grandchildren became her pride and joy, and she spent time with them whenever possible. In her senior years, she enjoyed reading, especially Christian books.

Surviving are her children, John (Lisa) Neely and William (Tricia) Neely, both of Columbia City, and Amanda (Bruce) Masters of South Whitley; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, William House of Fort Wayne.

Janet desired to have no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
