Jayme D. Hapner, 73, died peacefully, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Parkview Whitley Hospital under hospice care.
She was born December 28, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a daughter of the late Gerald Gene and Nelda May (Runge) McClain. As a young girl the family moved to Shriner Lake and then in the Summer of 1968, they moved to Fort Wayne.
On August 24, 1977 she married Albert L. Hapner and in 1978 they moved to Michigan, then in 1991 they returned to Fort Wayne until 2001 when they settled in Columbia City. Albert died July 10, 2000.
During Jayme's earlier years in Michigan, she was a supervisor at a military moving company then in March of 2007 she started working at Sparks Commercial Tire and worked her way up to assistant manager. She retired in December of 2012.
Jayme enjoyed doing puzzles, watching movies and football. She was an amazing seamstress and could put costumes and outfits together very quickly. In addition, she was great at recovering furniture.
Surviving is her son, Scott Weaver of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers, Gerry McClain of Fort Wayne, Brett McClain of Fort Wayne, Mel McClain of Roanoke and Larry McClain of Fort Wayne; and a sister, Linda Denney of Albany, Indiana.
Jayme was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodie Lynn Deck; and a son, Randy Weaver.
As per Jayme's wishes, there will be no services.
Memorials in Jayme's honor are to The Chapel in Fort Wayne.
