Jean Elizabeth
Dunn
Apr 1, 1937 — Oct 12, 2025
Larwill
Jean Elizabeth Dunn , 88, of rural Larwill, passed away peacefully at 5:58 a.m. Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
Born on April 1, 1937, in Columbia City, Indiana, she was the only child of the late Robert J. and Helen Izeta (Neible) Keiser. Growing up in Etna-Troy Twp., she completed Troy Center Elementary School and graduated from Larwill High School in 1955. During her high school years, she was a member of the Larwill Band playing the trumpet and accordion, and was a cheerleader for the varsity sports teams.
On November 19, 1955, she married Robert G. Dunn. With the exception of his military service, the couple have always made their home on a farm in Etna-Troy Twp., raising two children. She lost her beloved husband, Robert, on May 8, 2016.
Jean began her work career at Whitley Products, leaving to raise her family and assist on the farm. She worked for the Montgomery Wards catalog store in Columbia City for a couple of years. After her children were grown, she drove a school bus for Whitley County Consolidated Schools for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Troy Presbyterian Church. In her senior years, she did not let diminished driving skills deter her from visiting the area antique shops and/or Goodwill stores for a bargain or a piece for her craft projects. She enjoyed framing her finds from antiquing. At home, she never missed the Lawrence Welk Show.
Surviving are her children, Carol Ormsby of Pierceton and Ronald (Lori) Dunn of Larwill, grandchildren, Jennifer Ormsby, Kristi (Derek) Crosson, Heather (Mick) Ames, Trent (Amity) Dunn, and Kayla (Dan) Kerschner; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (October 19th) at the Nolt Cemetery, 2400 S Washington Road, Columbia City. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Memorials in Jean's honor are to the Troy Presbyterian Church.
