Jeffrey Douglas Fancil , 63, of Columbia City, died peacefully in the company of family at 1:58 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at his home.
Born on September 15, 1961, in Warsaw, Indiana, he was a son of Jerry L. and Pamela (Wiest) Fancil. Growing up in Warsaw, he graduated from Warsaw High School in 1980. He continued his education at local vocational schools.
Becoming a machinist, he worked for Instru-Med in Warsaw and then DeGood Dimensional Concepts in North Webster. An accomplished bass guitar player, he played with several area bands, most recently The Noise Band. He is remembered for his deep and soothing voice.
He liked to fish the local lakes and followed the Colts football team during their season. Jeff enjoyed being with his step-kids and grandkids and adored his small dog, Mister.
He leaves behind his significant other, Stephanie Sterner of Columbia City, and her children, Julia Philpot and Joseph Shafer, both of Fort Wayne; his parents, Jerry and Pamela Fancil of Warsaw; stepchildren, Matt and Andy Hurley; six grandkids; a brother, Troy (Svitlana) Fancil of Warsaw, and nephew, Brett (Alexis Elliott) Fancil and niece, Hope Fancil.
A memorial service will be held at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, at 4 p.m. on Saturday (April 26th). Visitation is 3 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials in Jeff's honor are to Stillwater Hospice, Fort Wayne.
