Jim Junior "Jimmie" North , 68, of rural Columbia City, passed away at 3:52 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at his home.
Born on November 29, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was a son of the late Elijah and Cordelia (Saylor) North. Growing up in Fort Wayne, he completed Washington Center Elementary School and attended Northrop High School, later earning a GED.
He went to work for Magnavox in Fort Wayne in the production plant. He later joined ITT, working in the manufacturing plant for over 17 years. He completed his work career at 80/20 in Columbia City, retiring in 2020.
On November 7, 2006, he was united in marriage to Cynthia J. Hull Pequignot. They made their first home
in Columbia City, moving to Columbia Twp. in 2006.
A friend to all, he was a generous man helping others whenever needed. He loved to host family gatherings and is remembered for his great barbeques. Jimmie enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and vegetables, and doing carpentry work around the property. He liked watching the Indianapolis Colts and, above all, was a wonderful husband to his wife and father to his children.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Cynthia; children, Brian (Heather) North, Crystal (Christopher) Powers, both of Michigan; Sue Ann Black of New Haven, Angel (Dan Anderson) North of St. Louis Park, MN and Jimmie Jay (Caasi) North of Fort Wayne; stepchildren, Matthew Pequignot, Chad (Denise Reeg) Pequignot both of Columbia City and Jeremy Pequignot of South Whitley; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lynn Bell and Norma Jean Parker both of Fort Wayne and Karen Valeri of Oceanside, CA.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Phelps.
The funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday (Dec 21st) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the Washington Twp. Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials in Jimmie's honor are to the Giving Gardens of Columbia City.
