John Andrew Bogle, 87 , of rural Columbia City, died peacefully at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at his home.

Born January 22, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, he was the only child of the late Joseph James and Elsie Mary (Bechtold) Bogle. Growing up in Toledo, he graduated from Libbey High School in 1952.

On November 16, 1954, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served in Okinawa, Japan, during the Korean Conflict receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1956. Returning to Toledo, he earned a bachelor's degree at Toledo University in 1959.

Joining Dana Corporation in 1959, he worked at the Toledo, Egerton, WI, and Fort Wayne facilities becoming the division manager.  In 1981, he earned an MBA at the University of Bowling Green. He retired in 1994.

On October 2, 1982, he married Irene Anna (Horn) Begue at Grace Lutheran Church, Columbia City. They have always made their home in rural Columbia City.

Enjoying travel, he made many trips to Germany to visit his wife's family and tour the country and in retirement - wintering in Florida. While at home, he liked gardening and lawn projects. He was a great card player, and delighted in playing Phase 10, Hand & Foot, and Cribbage, especially with the grandchildren.

Surviving are children Andrew J. Bogle and Robert B. Bogle of Fort Wayne; a stepson Kurt A. (Lynnette) Begue of Auburn; and four grandchildren, Madison, Shelby, & Morgan Begue, and Noah Wilber.

The funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at the Nolt Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
