Johney Ray Amburgy II, 35, of rural Columbia City, died from natural causes at 2:33 a.m. Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 7, 1987, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Indiana, he was a son of Johney Ray Amburgy I and Christine Lynn (Smith) Amburgy.  Growing up in Whitley County, he attended Whitko High School.

Working in the food service industry, he worked for various restaurants in a variety of roles including a waiter and bartender.

In 2015, he married Alyssa D. LaFave.  They had a son, Ryker Lee Amburgy who survives. Alyssa died on November 12, 2022.

Johney enjoyed gaming and loved to read.

In addition to his son, Ryker, he is survived by his mother, Christine (Steven) Smith of Columbia City; a sister, Robyn Lynn Lewis of New Haven; a brother, Corey A. Amburgy of Columbia City; a stepsister, Britanni G. Smith of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johney Ray Amburgy I.

There will be no services.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
