Jordan R. Fugate, 79, formerly of Columbia City, died peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024, at his home in The Villages, Florida.

He was born April 14, 1945, in Hazard, Kentucky a son of the late Chester and Ruth (Hogston) Fugate.  The family moved to Illinois, where he attended Maywood Elementary. He graduated from Proviso East High School in 1963.

He worked for over 12 years at Sterling Print in Thomasville, North Carolina as a press operator.

On April 15, 2006 he married Virginia L. Tripp.  They made their home in the Westchester area of Illinois before moving to Florida.

Jordan enjoyed playing golf, shuffleboard and bocce.

He leaves behind his wife, Virginia, daughter, Tammie (John) Wojciechowski of Lexington, NC; step sons, James (Michelle) Tripp of Batavia, IL, Jon (Cora) Tripp Jr., of Shorewood, IL and Robert (Kellie) Tripp of Confidence, CA; and nine grandchildren.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ruth; his first wife, Rosemarie; and a son, Chester.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Matthews Cemetery in Columbia City.
