Joseph Arthur Clark, 90, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully in the company of family at 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at his home in the care of Promedica Hospice & Home.
Born on September 9, 1932, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late John A. and Laura M. (Bacon) Clark. As a young boy the family moved to Fort Wayne where he completed elementary school and graduated from North Side High School in 1950. He continued his education at Purdue University in West Lafayette becoming a licensed Pharmacist.
For 47 years, he worked as a pharmacist beginning with Hook's Drugs in Marion then Meyer-Rexall. Moving to Fort Wayne he worked for Hooks, Kroger, Revco and CVS retiring from Hooks/CVS.
As a Purdue alumnus, he held season tickets for years to football and basketball making the regular journey to West Lafayette. He also joined the alumni group for a trip to China visiting the Great Wall and Chinese Terracotta Warriors. At home, he attending the Fort Wayne Komets and Tin Caps games. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and photography. Through the years he participating in the local bowling leagues.
Surviving are his children, Cindy (Dorsey) Simmons of Fort Wayne, David (Cynthia) Clark of Pierceton and Douglas Clark of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Stacy Clark, Dorsey (Kelsey) Simmons, David (Vanessa) Clark, Sarah (Will) Long, Christine (Chris) Parker and Autumn Brown; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Jane Clark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jack, and Jim Clark.
Joseph desired to have no services. He will be interred in Etna Green Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
