Judith A. Smith, 81, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:22 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Kingston Care Center, Fort Wayne, where she had resided since November of 2023.

Born on October 1, 1942, in Allen County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late William and Elnore (Parry) Corbin.  She began school in Columbia Township and attended Columbia City Junior High School.

Judy worked at Dana in Churubusco, Minneapolis and Rapid City for over 30 years.  She then worked at Comfort Keepers, in-home senior care for 13 years before her retirement.

In 2002, she was united in marriage to Thomas Smith.  They made their home in Fort Wayne from 2003 until 2006 and then moved to Columbia City, where they have lived for 18 years.

She enjoyed collecting teapots and spending time with her granddaughter Dara.

Surviving is her son, Jeff Welch of Churubusco; step-son, Josh (Lisa) Smith of Columbia City; step-daughter, Julie (Robb) Rhodes of Columbia City; granddaughter, Dara LaMaita; step-grandchildren, McKenzie Smith, McKayla Smith, Logan (Bailey) Smith, Mason Rhodes, Courtney (Bri) Rhodes, Joel Rhodes; half-sisters, Cindy Auer of Columbia City, Janet Corbin of Pretty Lake, Susie Swing of California, Joan (William) Klein of Columbia City; half-brothers, Larry (Susie) Corbin of Avilla and Steve (Sue) Corbin of Columbia City..
