Kathy Jo Heinfeld , 65, of South Whitley, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at her home.

She was born on December 20, 1958, in Columbia City, Indiana, a daughter of the late Anthony and Alice Mare (Koch) Treece.  Growing up in Columbia City, she attended Columbia City Joint High School.

In addition to being a homemaker raising two daughters, she had worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Miller's Merry Manor and in housekeeping for Northridge Village in Albion.

At home she enjoyed gardening especially growing flowers.  As her mobility became limited, she like to work word search puzzles and watch the birds.  She shared a special bond with her only grandchild, Kendra.

Surviving are her daughters, Amber Heinfeld of Columbia City and Mickila Heinfeld of Warsaw; a granddaughter Kendra Heinfeld; brothers, Greg Treece and Alex Alejandro; and a sister, Evette Mosquera of Fort Meyers, FL.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa McCoy.

A graveside service is on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Nolt Cemetery.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
