Keith D. Orr, 75, of rural Ligonier, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Born on June 3, 1946 at Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw, he was a son of the late Darrell L. and Luella M. (Walker) Orr.  His formative years were spent in Warsaw.  While in grade school, the family moved to a farm near Larwill.  He graduated from Larwill High School in 1964.

Inducted into the U.S. Army on November 15, 1965, he served a year in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged on November 17, 1967.

Returning to the area, he went to work for Weatherhead, Columbia City for a few years, later taking a job with Tokeim, Fort Wayne where he had 30 years of service.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 258 in Pierceton, the Cromwell-Kimmel Lions Club, and Grace Lutheran Church, Columbia City.

Enjoying mowing, he cut not only his own yard but his neighbors as well.  Annually, he grew a vegetable garden and liked to fish, ice fish, and hunt.

He is survived by a son, Chad A. Orr of Louisville, a daughter, Shelly Labenz of Churubusco; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karen (Jeff) Maggard of Warsaw.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Savannah Labenz.

The funeral service is 12 noon Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  Burial is at the Washington-Union Cemetery, Pierceton.  Visitation is 10 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
