L. Steven Reynolds , 68, of Columbia City passed away at 3:07 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Born on April 30, 1956, in San Diego, California, he was a son of the late Samuel and Phyllis (Van Deman) Reynolds.  Growing up Whitley County, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1974.

As a teenage boy, he began working at his father's service station, Sam's Sunoco in Columbia City.  Eventually, he became an auto mechanic.  In 1993, he went to work for Holly Park in Shipshewana building manufactured homes.  In 2000, he went to work for Commodore Homes in Goshen.  He retired in 2024.

He enjoyed playing golf and liked to fish the area lakes.  Interested in coins and tokens, he became a numismatist.  During football season, he followed the games of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed playing and watching baseball.  Growing his own vegetables, he was also a good cook and baker.  He is remembered by his family as the generous uncle.

Surviving are his sisters, Christy Reynolds-Miller of Columbia City, and Kathleen Reynolds of Ortonville, MI, and a brother, Martin (Rene) Reynolds of Sandwich, IL; stepbrother, Greg (Marsha) Reynolds of Columbia City; and stepsister, Pamela Flannery also of Columbia City.

The funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday (Jan 17th) at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.  Burial is at the Catholic Cemetery, Columbia City.  Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in Steven's honor are to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
