LaDawna L. Carney, 71, of Columbia City, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2021, at her home after a hard-fought battle from Stage 4 C.O.P.D.
Born March 15, 1950, in Canton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late James and Bonnie Jean (Wells) Morrison. She attended North Side High School, Fort Wayne, and later completed her G.E.D.
She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to many grandchildren and leaves behind her grand-dog, Gus.
Surviving is her husband, Jackie; son, Steve (Michelle) Wysong Jr; daughter, Stephanie (fiancé -Gary Bell) Wysong, son, Joshua (Cassie) VanGorder; stepson, Timothy (Andrea) VanGorder, all of Fort Wayne; stepchildren, Ian (Dinah) Carney of Tennessee and Christina Smith of Missouri; stepfather, Irving Corn of Florida; father-in-law, Ralph Carney of Columbia City; siblings, Russell (Lana) Morrison; Laurie Morrison; stepsister, Debra (Gary) Clevenger; sisters-in-law, Linda (Ray) Benoit, and Linda (Lynn) Morrison; and a special friend Barbara (Jerry) Wells.
She was preceded in death by step-mother Patricia Emmons, three brothers who proudly served their country, all Vietnam Veterans, Rick Morrison, Terry Morrison, & Tommy Morrison, and her beloved canine companion, Babygirl.
A memorial service is 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation is from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.S.P.C.A.).
