Obituary

Larry Clayton Shrock, 75, of rural Columbia City, died at 7:44 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021, at his home.

He was born December 29, 1945, in Huntington, Indiana, a son of the late Clayton and Carmen (Hickman) Shrock. He grew up in Huntington County and graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1964.

On December 8, 1965, he entered the U.S. Navy. Serving two tours of Vietnam, he received an honorable discharge in 1972.

Returning to the area became employed with Kenworth of Fort Wayne. After helping set up, their southern states operation, he returned to Fort Wayne, where he was the shop foreman. In the earlier 2000s, he went to work for W.A. Jones, Columbia City, in commercial sales retiring in 2020.

On August 16, 2001, he married Dianne Fay Studebaker. They made their first home in Huntertown, moving to rural Columbia City in 2004.

An avid bowler, he participated with several bowling leagues at the local bowling alley. He liked to fish and ride horses. In his senior years, he began woodworking, making various items from picnic tables to small crafts.

Surviving is his wife, Dianne, sons, Lawrence (Kim) Shrock, Lorne (Terri) Shrock, both of Huntington, Lucas (Charity) Shrock, and Jess Schrock, both of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a sister, Sondra Shrock of Florida.

It was Larry's desire to have no services. Arrangements are Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
