Leona Rita Brunet, 72, of Columbia City formerly of Marrero, Louisiana, died at 5:17 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

She was born July 26, 1948, in Lafitte, Louisiana, a daughter of the late Clarence T. and Marie A. (Bruce) Creppel. Her formative years were spent in Lafitte.

On June 24, 1977, she married Roger Brunet. Roger died March 19, 1993.

In 1998, she moved to Indiana to be with her daughter.  A full-time homemaker, she raised two children.  She enjoyed cooking and sewing quilts which are now cherished heirlooms.  When her grandchildren came along, they became her pride and joy.

She is survived by son, Shane Creppel of Louisiana and a daughter, Amanda (Elliot) Lawson of Columbia City; grandchildren, Jazlyn (Michael) Young, Kaedence Lawson, Jayden Creppel, Mackenzie Lawson, Jorden Creppel and Easton Lawson; a great-grandson, Titus Young; and two sisters, Alecia Davenport of Marrero, LA and Nita Head of Oil City, LA.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Mae Christen and Louise Maise, and two brothers, Clarence Creppel, Jr. and Adam Creppel.

There will be no services.  Burial will take place at a later date at Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA.  Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
