Lisa Ann Jahn (Shoda), 67, of Columbia City, died in her home surrounded by her family at 9:51 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Born on September 13, 1957, in Columbia City, IN, she was the daughter of Harmon E. and Carol L. (Peterson) Shoda. Growing up on Loon Lake, she went to Etna-Troy Elementary School and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1975. She continued her education earning a dental assistance associate's degree from Purdue, Fort Wayne.

On June 6, 1981, she married Robert L. Jahn. They built their home in rural Columbia City where they raised three children. After working a few years as a dental assistant, she started her daycare business so she could be at home to raise her kids. Over her nearly 30 years as a daycare provider, she loved and cared for over 50 children.

She was skilled in many things; to her family it seemed that there was nothing she couldn't do. She was a talented crafter, making quilts, sewing, scrapbooking, and refurbishing antiques. She grew a garden, canned vegetables, baked, and cooked delicious food. There was never enough of her fried okra to go around. She enjoyed fishing, reading, soaking up the sun, and playing games. Above all, she adored her family and always put them first. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving is her husband, Robert; sons, Jonathan (Lauren Violi) Jahn of Indianapolis and Adam (Clara Doti) Jahn of Columbia City; daughter, Lacey (Daniel) Lyrla of Sneads Ferry, NC; grandchildren, Ira Lyrla and Archer Jahn; her mother, Carol Shoda of Columbia City; and brother, Brady (Laura) Shoda of Columbia City.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harmon Shoda, and brother, Brett Shoda.

A memorial gathering will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4th, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with a memorial service to follow at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lisa's honor can be made to Multiple System Atrophy research to help find the cause, treatment, and cure for the rare terminal illness she battled for 12 years.
