Mack Delroy Faylor , 81, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at Story Point West, Fort Wayne.
Born on September 11, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of the late Arthur Faylor, Jr. and Betty A. (Klaehn) Faylor. Mack grew up in Arcola and Aboite Twp., and attended Elmhurst High School. In 1971, the family moved to Columbia City.
Mack had worked for Plaka Exports in Fort Wayne and then for Frank's Greenhouse in Columbia City for 17 years. He then became a courtesy clerk at Scott's Grocery in Columbia City, transitioning to Kroger, where he bagged groceries and became well known to patrons for over 30 years.
At home, he enjoyed the outdoors and doing yard work. He was a model railroad enthusiast and was quite talented at color pencil drawings. He enjoyed listening to Country Music, with an outstanding knowledge of song titles and artists. He loved to fish and could sit fishing all day.
He was a long-term member of the Laud Christian Church and, more recently, attended the Big Lake Church of God.
Surviving are his sister, Patricia Wickerham of Columbia City; a niece, Hallie (Matthew) Grant of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews, Zach (Katie) Grant, Tanner (Kelsey) Grant, all of Fort Wayne, and Sierra Grant of Indianapolis.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (March 6th) at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Arrangements are in care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Memorials in Mack's honor are to Eleos Hospice or the Whitley County Community Foundation.
