Marilyn Kay Ferguson, 78, of rural Columbia City, died peacefully at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Parkview Randallia, Fort Wayne.

Born December 20, 1942, in Anderson, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Alfred F. and Mary Ruth (Ricks) Wood. Growing up in Anderson, she graduated from Anderson High School in 1960.  She then completed courses at the Apex School of Cosmetology in Anderson.

For twenty years, she was an independent cosmetologist working at various shops in the Anderson area.

In 1987, she moved to Wolcottville and in 2007 rural Columbia City.  Her soulmate, Fred Kenneth Beaman died on September 28, 2017.

Throughout her life she enjoyed growing flowers that adorned her property and watching the native birds throughout the seasons.  Family was always her priority hosting gatherings and cooking for all to enjoy. Until she was unable, she like to play euchre and read books.  In her later years, a murder/mystery television show piqued her interest.

Surviving are her children, Christina Ferguson Tullos of Lewisville, TX, Michael Ferguson of Fort Wayne and Tammy Ferguson of South Whitley; a step-daughter, Deneen Thornberg of South Whitley; grandchildren, Brittany (Eloy) Faculjak, Storm (Jaycie) Pontzius, Kassidie Depew, Kalee Terry, Jessica (Joe) Croft, Nabria Kinney and Mathew Harris; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by sisters, Marthella Wood and Madonna Sue King and a brother Billy B. Wood.

At Marilyn's request, there will be no service. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
