Mark Eugene Heinfeld , 67, of rural Columbia City, died peacefully at his home at 7:35 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2024.

He was born at Whitley County Memorial Hospital on September 12, 1957, a son of the late Eugene Orville and Justine Louise (Gambrell) Heinfeld.  Growing up in Thorncreek Twp., he completed Thorncreek Elementary School and attended Columbia City Joint High School.

On September 5, 1987, he married Kathy Jo Treece.  The couple raised two daughters.  They divorced in 2009.  Kathy died on August 26, 2024.

Earning a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with hazardous materials endorsements, he became a long-haul trucker.  In 2019, a stroke left him disabled.

At home, he enjoyed caring for his property and keeping the lawn mowed.

He is survived by his daughters, Amber Heinfeld of Columbia City and Mickila Heinfeld of Warsaw; a granddaughter, Kendra Heinfeld; and sisters, Dorothy (Randy) Kelly and Roxanne Herbst, both of Columbia City.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
