Mary Ann Alexande r, 56, of Columbia City, died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Born on September 29, 1967, in Huntington, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Jerry W. and Carolyn Kay (Johnston) Salter. Growing up in Huntington, she graduated from Huntington High School in 1986.

A full-time homemaker raising two children, she also worked in convenience stores as a clerk for many years. For the past 30 plus years, she has lived in Columbia City.

She enjoyed embroidery and playing games. Time with her grandchildren was always a joy, and having dinner out with family and friends was a delight.

Surviving are her children, Heather M. Lewis of Fort Wayne and John Fairchild of Columbia City; five grandchildren; a sister, Angela (Kreg) Eckert of Roanoke; and a brother, Joshua (Carrie) Salter of Huntington.

A Celebration of Mary's life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on December 7th, 2023 at the V.F.W., 415 E. Chicago Street, Columbia City. Dinner will be provided.  Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
