Melissa Lee Weirick, 51, of Columbia City, died peacefully at her home at 6:04 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020, after battling breast cancer.

She was born September 26, 1969, in Gary, Indiana, the only child of the late Douglas K. and Frances L. (Hunter) Pinner. The family moved to Fort Wayne when she was a young girl, and she graduated from Homestead High School. She attended the University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne.

On June 11, 2007, she was united in marriage to Matthew A. Weirick. They have always made their home in Columbia City.

She was last employed by Sirva, Fort Wayne, where she worked as a move manager.

She had an artistic flair and enjoyed abstract art, fashion, and working with home décor. She was delighted to spend time with her grandchildren and adored her dog Willie and cat Scarlet.

Surviving is her husband, Matt; their children, Tesia (Josh) Watson of Fort Wayne and Cooper Weirick of Columbia City; a granddaughter, Ollie Watson, a grandson Harper Watson; and a grandmother, Patty Pendleton.

Melissa's wishes were not to have a service but a private family celebration of life at a later date.
