Mona Louise Jones, 63, of rural South Whitley, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at her home.
Born July 16, 1958, in Bluffton, Indiana, she was a daughter of Larry and Marjorie (Wilson) Roeback. Growing up in the Ossian area, she completed grade school at Ossian and graduated from Norwell High School in 1978.
On June 22, 1996, she married Steven Louis Jones. They made their first home in Columbia City, moving to rural South Whitley in 2006.
For the past 15 years she worked at the Columbia City Walmart in the bakery department. Prior she had been a nurse's aide at the Caylor-Nickel Clinic in Bluffton.
An avid bowler, she participated in the Tuesday Night Women's League and participated in tournaments around the State. She and her husband bowled with the local Eagles Club until they disbanded. She enjoyed art coloring and liked to produce diamond paints and presenting them as a gift especially for newlyweds. While at home, she would crochet often giving her work as gifts. Fond of birds, she especially liked humming birds and the cartoon character – Tweety Bird. She is remembered for her delicious homemade ice cream.
Surviving is her husband of 25 years, Steve, daughters, Amber (David) Gavilanez of Bluffton and Carrie (Cory Henderson) Marley of Dekalb, IL; ten grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Roeback of Ossian; and siblings, Brian K. Roeback of Ossian, Gary L. (Faith Sprunger) Roeback of Harlan and Cheryl L. (Robert) Disbro of Uniondale.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Roeback.
The funeral service is 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation is 2 p.m. until the service Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at the Eberhard Cemetery.
